The iDAS ribbon does not appear in Civil 3D

The following problems might cause the Devotech iDAS ribbon not to load in Civil 3D:

  1. Devotech iDAS is not compatible with the Civil 3D version
  2. Devotech iDAS CUI (Custom User Interface that contains ribbon, toolbars, menus and other objects) was not loaded automatically
  3. There was a conflict between various Devotech iDAS CUI versions

Each problem is described in more detail in the following chapters.

iDAS is not compatible with the used Civil 3D version​

If Devotech iDAS does not support the specific Civil 3D version, the iDAS ribbon will not load. You can check Devotech iDAS's compatibility with Civil 3D on the iDAS What's New website:

iDAS CUI was not loaded automatically​

It some cases, the Devotech iDAS ribbon might not be loaded automatically. Type RELOADIDASCUI in the command line. If the Devotech iDAS ribbon still does not appear, type CUI in command line:

Go to the Customize tab and click on the browse icon:

Browse to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Devotech\Internal\Cui*,* select the Devotech iDAS .cuix file and close the Customize User Interface window:

If there is a conflict with the DEVOTECHIDAS cui files, you might receive the following message during the start-up of Civil 3D:

This conflict can also cause the Devotech iDAS ribbon not to display or, it might show the following message when you open the Customization User Interface window:

  1. To solve this problem, use the DTECH_ABOUT command to find out which version is installed:

The example below shows that Devotech iDAS version 2027.0.8.25 is installed:

  1. Type CUI in the command line and press Enter to open the Customize User Interface window:

  2. Go to the Customize tab**,** expand Partial Customization Files and check the number of DEVOTECHIDAS files. More than one file will cause the conflict. The example below shows two DEVOTECHIDAS files:

Right-click on any of the DEVOTECHIDAS files to find out which version it belongs to:

The second file belongs to the Devotech iDAS version 10:

  1. Unload the DEVOTECHIDAS file which belongs to the incorrect version, right-click on it and select the Unload command from the menu, click OK to close the Customize User Interface window. If all the ribbons disappear, type RIBBON in the command line and press Enter to switch them on again:

  2. If the Devotech iDAS ribbon does not appear, use the RELOADIDASCUI command:
