General Plan Wizard Command
Description:
Automates the plan production for roads and pipe networks. A typical application is for urban development projects. It creates sheets and places the plan and profile views in the viewports, the plans are rotated to fit the alignment on the sheet and the profiles start in the left bottom corner. It places one alignment per sheet, if the alignment is too long it will split the production over multiple sheets. The profiles are always split at a chainage value that fits onto a sheet, meaning the pipe networks are not split at the last structure which fits onto the sheet. The process allows the import of band settings (Profile 1, Profile 2 and Data source) from existing profile views. This command does not create view frames.

If you created roads or pipe networks with Devotech iDAS, it is practical to export the profile view band settings from the existing profile views to a .xml file.

Use the Export Band Settings command and specify a location for the .xml file:

Create a plan and profile title block template in the drawing in which you want to use the General Plan Wizard command. It must contain rectangular plan and profile viewports which must be set to the correct scale. These viewports do not need to be locked. It is practical for the profile viewport height to be equal to the profile view height including the bands, to ensure it fits nicely into the viewport.

Go to the model space and click on this command in the ribbon.

Select the alignment(s):

Specify the Profile view style and Profile view band set, Set custom profile view height to correspond with the profile viewport height. If you don't want the profile view length to exceed a specific length, tick the Set maximum profile view width option and set the length. Import the Band settings file, select Network to add along alignment (this is used for stormwater and sewer network plan production), and add the networks which must be displayed as sections in the profile views (suitable for services):

Specify the Sheet to modify which contains the plan and profile viewports. The Sheet name must have the Alignment Name ticked on when multiple alignments are selected, otherwise Devotech iDAS will display the following message: Maximum number of layouts (256) reached:

Tick the Modify viewport for plan area option (this option will move the plan viewport to an alignment location) and tick the Rotate plan viewport to follow alignment option to rotate the plan viewport. The Drawing name is currently not being used so you can ignore this setting:

Specify the location for the new profile views and select the plan viewport:

Pipe network added along alignment is not displayed
Edit the profile view style which is used for plan production, in the Grid tab set the Grid Padding To left and To right to 0.000. Rerun the plan production command:
