Modify Views Command

Description:

Modify multiple Profile and Section Views by adjusting datums, heights and positions. The views can be aligned, laid out in columns, rows or a grid, have the datum information adjusted, and have heights set.

Instructions:

1. Run the command.

2. Select the Profile or Section Views to modify and press Enter:

   

Some adjustments use a selection order, e.g. the Align command, see details further on. If you need to select views in a specific order, type F (fence) into the command line when prompted for a selection and draw a crossing line through the sections. They will be selected in the order in which the line crosses them.

1. Select the type of modification you want to perform in the command line:

   

   1. Align – Aligns the views' position relative to one another.

      1. Horizontal – Aligns all views horizontally using the average Y value.
      2. Vertical – Aligns all views horizontally using the average X value.

   2. Datum – Adjusts the views' datum level:

      1. Average – Adjust the datum level of the views so that the contents fit inside view.
      2. Increase – Increase (or decrease) the datum level by a relative amount.
      3. Set – Set the datum level to a absolute level.

   3. Height – Changes the height of the views' area. When adjusting the height, the level can be constrained to:

      1. Bottom
      2. Top
      3. ***Middle

   4. Space – Space out views in a column, row or a grid.

      1. Horizontal
      2. Vertical
      3. ***Grid

The Modify View command is mostly used to adjust section views' datum because Civil 3D often does not position the corridor sections correctly in the section views. Users must then manually change the datum for each section view which is very time-consuming. This command can automatically adjust all the section views at once (command sequence: Modify Views – Datum – Average).
