Remove 3D Faces Command

Description:

Deletes all 3D faces outside the extents of a polyline. If a surface is going to be created from 3D faces, then this command can be used to remove excess 3D faces from the drawing prior to creating the surface. Selecting and deleting thousands of entities manually in Civil 3D is a slow process and this command will improve the speed of creating a surface from a portion of 3D faces.

Instructions:

1. Run the command.

2. Select an existing polyline in model space that defines the extents of the 3D faces that are to be kept in the drawing:

   

3. When hitting enter all 3D faces in the drawing that are outside the polyline will be deleted.

If any part of a 3D face is within the extents of the polyline the 3D face will not be deleted.
