Interference Check (pipe network training)

If you have more than one pipe network in the project you need to check if there is interference between them.

  1. Go to the Analyse tab**, Interference Check** command and select networks. In the opened window specify the settings. You can also specify the 3D proximity check criteria which can be used in cases where a minimum distance between the pipes in the network is required.
  2. In the 3D proximity check criteria window, you can specify a minimum distance from another pipe network, or you can specify a Scale Factor. When you enter a scale factor value, AutoCAD Civil 3D calculates the limits of the part (the pipe or the structure) multiplied by the scale factor value that is specified. For example, if the pipe diameter is 600mm and the scale factor is 2, Autodesk Civil 3D will identify any interference in a 1200mm distance.

  1. If an interference is found between the specified networks, a true interference solid is placed into the drawing. You can also display the interference as a sphere with a diameter specified by a true solid extends or with a specified diameter. To change the interference display, select any part of the network and go to Pipe Networks ‒ Interference Check ‒ Edit Interference Style.

The Edit Interference Style command:

  1. In the Interference Style window, go to the View Options tab, select the Show as sphere option and select the Diameter by true solid extents. The size of the sphere will be related to the size of interference.

  1. If you need to change the interference check properties, e.g. 3D Proximity Distance, select any part of network, go to Pipe Networks ‒ Interference Check ‒ Interference Check Properties and select the interference solid or sphere. You can change the interference check properties in the opened window.

  2. All the interference checks, performed in the drawing, can be found in Prospector ‒ Pipe Networks ‒ Interference Checks.

  3. If you need to change the interference mark style, go to Toolspace ‒ Settings ‒ Pipe Network ‒ Interference Styles. To change the style, right-click on the style and select Edit from menu.
